A couple months ago, Facebook tested instant ads based on status updates/wall posts. The new system creates ads based off of user-created content, such as status updates, to create advertisement that is more closely targeted to users and presented more instantaneously. Basically, Facebook is creating a word of mouth advertising structure. Currently, it delivers targeted ads based status updates/wall posts, but the new feature will make the ads closest to real-time then ever before.
Facebook is basically saying that ads based on content, not specific messaging, have a better chance of reaching your prospectives, which we completely agree with. They are going to be scrapping most of the display ad units (format they offer now) and replacing them with the new formats.
So what will the ads include? Each ad will include Like buttons and places for viewers to comment on the ads, making the advertisement very interactive and engaging. When viewers click the Like button or enter a comment, whichever activity they do will be posted on the brand’s page and posted to the user’s news feed. This is the ultimate work of marketing. Brands can still target their ads as they do right now (where they choose to place their ads: demographic, location, etc.).
With this new feature, businesses and marketers can now market a specific product or service much for effectively. By connecting to users’ interested and have them interact with the ad generates faster word of mouth marketing then ever before on Facebook. What ads are you and your business going to create?
While the new ads feature won’t be for a couple weeks, here is what you can learn about Facebook’s new set of Premium Ad Units:
