A big issue businesses have when it comes to social media is that they feel that only Facebook would benefit them, that their customers aren’t on Twitter, Pinterest or Instagram. They take the Facebook only approach and get upset when they get minimal results.
This week, we read an article from Business Insider where they showcased a study by Virtue. The study showed that when a business in actively using several social networks working with Facebook, engagement significantly increases by 50% or more! Here are the charts from the study:
The charts speaks for themselves. When using Facebook only, brands had an average of five likes per 1000 fans, or an engagement rate of 0.5%. When businesses are also using Twitter and Google+, that engagement rate went up to 0.77%. Brands that also integrate Pinterest into their Facebook page, saw an increase of 60% in Facebook engagement rates.
We always say that businesses don’t need to be on every social network, but they surely need to be on more than just Facebook. Research, plan, develop and know how to use those extra social pages that will best benefit your business. Using multiple social avenues gives you different options to share different content to different audiences, generating more brand recognition.
Content this year is all about visual. Integrating Instagram and Pinterest to your social media efforts significantly increases your engagement. The more engagement you have, the more brand recognition you get, which then leads to business for your company.
